I live in Wichita, KS in Sedgwick county where the photo of the Black History museum and County Jail pic were taken. People in Wichita here often get a giggle when we have to go to the courthouse and see this sign. Always knew it would wind up online….giggles…

The swastika was a symbol of luck for thousands of years, then the Nazi used a twisted version and now no one remembers the real meaning. So that picture isn’t really racist.
The rest are funny though.

@jbv: Yeah, it’s still a widely used symbol in Buddhist and Hindu iconography. The Nazis definitely ruined it. A Buddhist friend of mine had a swastika hanging in his car rearview mirror (much like Catholics hang a crucifix) and had his car keyed out labeling him a Nazi (as if two wrongs would make a right). Now he keeps his swastika pendant in his wallet or at home.

Good job for pointing that out @JBV and @Pishposh Unfortunately, most people do not realize that the swastika is an ancient symbol of peace and to represent the sun! It is sad that an evil murderer stole it for his own purpose. But that does not change the positive nature of three thousand year old symbol.

Just to clear things up that “Nazi” symbol is actually a Hindu religious symbol. The swasticka is an important and holy symbol and it is not really racist. But i must admit all the other ones were down right hilarious.

Actually, ‘pop culture’ can change the meaning, or perceived meaning, of something, and now, like it or not, the swastika is now considered an evil symbol. It was also used by the Native Americans, and can sometimes be found in basketry designs.
I find the “Howe” sign to be not so accidental, though.

My mom and my aunt saw the swastika at the Native American museum up in D.C and were shocked because they had no idea it was a good luck symbol.

Ooo I have one!! The brand of dogfood I buy is called “The Pride” and it comes in a big white bag. When it gets scanned at the register it comes up as “White Pride.” Don’t have an ounce of racism in me but it always makes me giggle.

the bedroom pic isn’t even remotely racist, that supposed swastika is actually buddist, they’re all over korea and china. Having said that Hitler’s swastika is the reverse of that and rotated 45 degrees.
