PS22 Sings “Somebody That I Used To Know”

Published on: February 18, 2012 – 7:31 pm by Jillian Madison Comment

The song, Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye featuring Kimbra, has been everywhere this year. It’s one of those songs that begins worming its way into your brain from its opening notes. The most recent bit of wonderful to come out of that song is a cover by the kids of New York’s PS 22.

Remember Kids Incorporated, the show that gave us Jennifer Love Hewitt, Fergie, Mario Lopez, Martika and more? This music teacher could create a whole new Kids Incorporated with his music students, but it would be more like a massive multinational corporation that no one would ever be able to compete with. He’d be the Apple of elementary-age singing enterprises.

I agree with Dirk. This isn’t really Pophangover the way we like it. This is… well, it’s not pop culture lulz.

How cool – why weren’t music teachers like this when I was at school?

I am blown away. I run an after school program and I have shown this to my kids. They want me to send a shot out to you all. That was amazing! We like your version better than the one on the radio. Keep it up kids and big ups to your music teacher!
