The Story of San Francisco’s Bat Kid: The Boy Who Saved Gotham!

Posted by Georgie on November 15, 2013

Today’s tear-inducing story comes from Miles of San Francisco– a 5-year-old who has been battling leukemia since before his second birthday.  Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, San Francisco was turned into “Gotham City” today, so that Miles could fulfill his dream of dressing up as “Bat Kid” and fighting crime all over the city along with his hero and partner, Batman.

The city went all-out for the occasion, and the hashtag #SFBatKid DOMINATED Twitter. From the LA Times:

News outlets from all over have supported and tweeted about Bat Kid, and thousands of fans in the San Francisco area came out to cheer him on as he fought “crime” all day around the city…

He saved a damsel in distress!

He stopped The Joker from carrying out a bank robbery!

He was cheered on by thousands of adoring citizens of Gotham!

He ate lunch with his partner, Batman!

Sliders: the meal of Superheroes!

Even President Obama expressed his congratulations to Bat Kid!

In conclusion…

If you want to see more wishes like Miles’ come true, donate to the Make a Wish Foundation here!

Go, Bat Kid!  You’ve made a lot of grown people cry today :)
