The 9 Best Female Comedy Duos in History!

Posted by Georgie on February 5, 2014

1. Laverne and Shirley

These originals showed us how to work hard, play hard, and laugh hard.  And come within and inch of murdering our best friend at times.

2. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

If we could just get them to host every awards show, star in their own TV show, do every movie together, and create a DIY channel on YouTube, we’d be a much happier and spiritually fulfilled society.

3. Romy and Michele

Romy and Michele: The glorious pair who taught us to deduct six pounds for our shoes after weighing ourselves, and that true friendship is way cooler than being popular any day.

4. Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph

Everyone wishes they could invite this pair of babes to their wedding.

5. Lucy and Ethel

Lucy and Ethel taught us everything we need to know about tolerating our best friends’ harebrained schemes and having the time of our lives in the process.

6. Jack Lemon and Tony Curtis

Okay, so they’re technically not women, but after watching this duo in drag in “Some Like it Hot,” we really think they should have considered staying Josephine and Geraldine forever.

7. Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn – “Death Becomes Her”

The friends who die together, stay together.  Forever.

8. Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders – “Absolutely Fabulous”

If you’ve never seen the AMAZING British comedy series, “Absolutely Fabulous,” educate yourself.  These women were ahead of their time, and I strive to be some sort of hybrid-human being based off their characters– A hot mess who drinks and swears a lot, but is also really into Yoga.

9. Ilana and Abbi – Broad City

These ladies are the newest duo on the scene, but if you check out “Broad City” on Comedy Central tonight at 10:30/9:30 central, you’ll know within the first five minutes that these broads deserve to be on this legendary list. (It’s just like I Love Lucy, but with way less husbands and way more sex jokes.)

It’s like looking into a future, raunchier mirror…
