What are You Cooking for Thanksgiving?
Every year, I host a rather boring Thanksgiving. I mean, it’s fun with my friends and family — but the food is boring. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, and pumpkin pie. Good, traditional, but BORING!
So this year, I’m getting on the age-old (OK not very old) bandwagon of stuffing food inside food inside food, and then baking it.
I’m cooking a turkducken, and for dessert, I’m going all out by baking a cherpumple. I know that people have been feasting cherpumple for a while, but this will be my first time — and I’m pumped.
The original cherpumple is a cherry pie baked into a white cake, placed on top of an apple pie baked into a yellow cake, placed on top of a pumpkin pie baked into a spiced cake… then everything is frosted together.
I’m going leave the bottom layer the same (pumpkin pie inside a spice cake) but for the middle layer, I’m putting a boysenberry pie in a strawberry cake, and on the top — a pecan pie in chocolate cake. It’s gotta be disgustingly good, and I won’t be able to call it a cherpumple. But my guests will love it… I hope.
So what are your Thanksgiving food traditions? Tell me!
