Brad Pitt Talks Sobriety, Plugs Angelina Jolie’s Movie

Who can forget those sensationalist headlines when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, along with their tribe of children - Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 8 – got into a fight on a plane and someone called the police and Child Protective Services (which led to an FBI investigation!). The subsequent investigation led nowhere, really, but it still ended the couple’s 12-year relationship.

A lot of speculation has gone down since then but no one has really made any super revealing statements — until now. Brad Pitt, who is appearing on three GQ covers simultaneously for this story, has come clean about his heavy drinking and mentioned his former wife’s name – just once! – for a surprising reason.

While, these days, the actor sticks to cranberry juice and “fizzy drinks,” he admits that things were much worse not too long ago. “I was boozing too much,” he says. “It’s just become a problem. And I’m really happy it’s been half a year now, which is bittersweet, but I’ve got my feelings in my fingertips again. Truthfully I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka. I was a professional. I was good.”

So, if he was so “good” at it, why did he stop? He says he doesn’t “want to live that way anymore.” Sounds like a solid plan considering how bad things have been for him lately.

Undoubtedly, people were hoping to hear some juicy details about the current state of things with Jolie but, while he used terms like “my partner” throughout the interview in passing, he used her actual name only once and it was for a very specific reason – he told the interviewer: “You should see Angie’s film.” The actress has taken on the directing role for the film adaptation of the emotionally-charged autobiography, First They Killed My Father.

Hopefully, this is a sign that, although they are not currently together, Pitt and Jolie will find a way to be mutually supportive for the sake of their children (and everyone else who is tired of hearing about their drama).
