Adele May Never Go On Tour Again and She Deserves That Right

Ever since Adele burst onto the scene with her debut album, 19, back in 2008, she’s been a huge success.  In fact, instead of stalling and failing to coming up with new material, her fanbase only seems to grow with each album.

While it’s great to listen to her recorded work, people really love to see her live performances. There are no huge special effects, stunts or even backup dancers. Instead, she just stands in the middle of the stage, opens her mouth and sings for the crowd. She’s freaking everyone out, therefore, with the announcement that she might not ever go on tour again.

Eyebrows were raised after Adele graced the stage at Wembley Stadium. The singer addressed the sold-out crowd of 98,000 with a handwritten note that was included in the show’s program.

It reads:

“So this is it after 15 months on the road and 18 months of 25 we are at the end. Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn’t suit me particularly well. I’m a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things. Plus, I’m dramatic and have a terrible history of touring. Until now that is!

I’ve done 119 shows and these last four will take me up to 123, it has been hard but an absolute thrill and pleasure.

I only ever did this tour for you and to hopefully have an impact on you the way that some of my favourite artists have had on me live. And I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don’t know if I’ll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home.”

Adele then told the crowd that, even if she never tours, “I will always write music and I will always put it out. And I hope that you’re always here.  I might never see you again at a live show. Who knows? But I will remember this for the rest of my life.”

Well, she’s earned that right. After all, Garth Brook took more than 15 years off from touring in order to focus on being a good father. Why can’t she do the same? I know I would if I had the money.

You do you, Adele!
