Madonna Doesn’t Want Tupac Letter Auctioned
The public is really just learning about this handwritten letter from Tupac Shakur to Madonna but the Material Girl is well aware of its existence. As it prepares to be auctioned, she’s doing all she can to try to stop the sale from happening.
Madge has filed an emergency court order in New York to halt the auction that is set to begin today. The singer wants to prevent Gotta Have It! Collectibles, Inc. from selling her personal memorabilia. Talk about waiting till the last minute!
Other items up for grabs include a pair of underwear worn by Tupac (really?!) and a prison letter. “I was shocked to learn of the planned auctioning of the Shakur letter, as I had no idea that the Shakur letter was no longer in my possession,” Madonna said, according to Page Six. So far, it looks like she’s been successful since the personal items have been removed from the item list.
A major reason why this letter has been so interesting to the public is that it explains why Pac broke things off with the pop icon all those years ago. He wrote, “can u understand that? For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career. If anything it would make you seem that much more open & exciting, but for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was. I never meant to hurt you.”
Wow. Let’s hope she gets the letter back and is able to keep it safe from now on.
