Meghan Markle: Prince Harry and I are “In Love”
It’s hard to escape the headlines about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry these days. It feels like everyone is expecting them to get married any day now which, of course, if an unfair amount of pressure for any relationship. While there has been considerable speculation, neither of them have publicly commented on things – until now!
In an interview for the October issue of Vanity Fair, Markle opened up and laid it all out and, well, it’s pretty straightforward. The 36-year-old Suits star explained, “I can tell you that at the end of the day I think it’s really simple. We’re two people who are really happy and in love. We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception. Nothing about me changed. I’m still the same person that I am, and I’ve never defined myself by my relationship.”
The pair recently traveled to Botswana where many assumed they would get engaged. Not only did Harry’s older brother, Prince William, pop the question to Kate Middleton (now pregnant with their third child!) there seven years ago but it was also a place where he spent time after his mother, Princess Diana, died 20 years ago. Markle did not address rumors of a proposal during her sit-down.
What’s it like being in such a high-profile relationship? The actress did admit, “It has its challenges, and it comes in waves — some days it can feel more challenging than others and right out of the gate it was surprising the way things changed. But I still have this support system all around me, and, of course, my boyfriend’s support. I don’t read any press. I haven’t even read press for Suits. The people who are close to me anchor me in knowing who I am. The rest is noise.”
“We’re a couple. We’re in love,” Markle reiterated. “I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us. It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”
Well, she’s almost hinting here at the fact that they are going to be official sometime soon. We love a great love story too but we love royal weddings even more!
