Actors and Actresses Wearing Black to Golden Globes to Protest Harassment
In light of the recent revelations about the prevalence of sexual harassment in Hollywood, it emerged that women would be wearing black as a sign of protest to the Golden Globe Awards on January 7, 2018. Now, it appears, men will be doing it too.
It had already been reported that presenters and nominees, including Jessica Chastain, Emma Stone, and Meryl Streep, would be taking the stage in all-black ensembles to send a message. In an act of solidarity and unity, at least, some men will be doing it too.
According to stylist, Ilaria Urbanati, who has worked with Dwayne Johnson, Armie Hammer, and Tom Hiddleston among others, her male clients will also be sporting the darkest hue on the red carpet.
“Because everyone keeps asking me… YES, the men WILL be standing in solidarity with women on this wearing-all-black movement to protest against gender inequality at this year’s Golden Globes,” Urbanati wrote on Instagram. “At least ALL MY GUYS will be. Safe to say this may not be the right time to choose to be the odd man out here… just sayin…” In the comments, Johnson confirmed this by added: “Yes we will.”
It would be wonderful to see all of the celebs uniting over this issue. Let’s hope someone doesn’t miss the memo and shows up in some bright yellow frock. Considering the climate in Tinseltown, they might just struggle to find work over that type of decision.
